Recently, I visited a small book shop in Toronto called, Moonbeam Books. It was great to visit a local business that had a variety of different books to pick from. There were many unique books that were available. This made it  difficult to pick one. Luckily, with some searching I found the perfect one for my three year old daughter, Nikki. I found Be A Star, Wonder Woman.

Be A Star, Wonder Woman, written by Michael Dahl and illustrated by Omar Lozano was my pick. And boy was it a great pick!

Empowering Girls

Be A Star, Wonder Woman is a heartfelt celebration of everyday girl power, a young girl faces the ultimate challenge: school! With the heroic traits of DC Comics’ Wonder Woman TM, like COURAGE, STRENGTH, and KINDNESS, she’ll turn a demanding school day into an amazing adventure!”

Sounds like a great message, doesn’t it? It sure did to us. We read the book multiple times! My daughter brought it everywhere. She asked everyone to read it to her. She loved it that much.

For this #MelAndNikkiReview, we give it 5+++ stars out of 5 for its empowering message for young girls, the beautiful illustrations and the diversity in the book. We just loved how inclusive and diverse the characters were in the book too.

Our favorite part of all is the checklist at the end of the book. The phrases: Be Prepared, Be Kind, Be Brave, Be Honest, Be Strong and Be Heroic are on the checklist. They are important traits to teach young children. At the end with the checklist, we asked our daughter what it means to be prepared, kind, brave, honest, strong and heroic. We love hearing what she has to say. It reassures us that she is learning such important traits.

We highly recommend to purchase this lovely book as it is inspiring for your little one.
