4 Gift Ideas For Your Child With The Big Imagination

Embracing your child’s creativity is one thing that you can do to help them develop into a successful adult capable of thinking outside of the box. Creative people are better able to come up with answers to problems, they are naturally curious and they are genuinely interested in people. Most importantly, they are genuinely able to get excited about anything. There are four gifts that you can give your child to encourage their creativity.

Books

Books are a wonderful way to nurture your child’s creativity. While reading is a fun activity, enhance the experience by reading in different voices. Then, take it to the next level by doing something creative with the story. Build a hungry caterpillar out of colored clay or help the child create a picture for their wall of the story’s main characters. Allow the child to create their own stories helping them to write them down. Then, encourage the child to illustrate the story before sharing it with someone special to them.

Wardrobe

Make a trip to the thrift store to find a variety of different clothing styles. Put them together in a trunk or in a closet and let the child play dress up whenever they want. Do not worry about what they put on as pretending different activities is essential to the child’s development. Go ahead and let your child wear their Wonder Woman costume to the grocery store. They will be having fun and everyone will think they are cute. Be careful not to insist that only girls wear ties or insist that boys cannot wear dresses. They will figure it out over time while developing their own individual style.

Art

Gather lots of art supplies together so that the child can get creative regularly. While you will want to have a variety of crayons, paints and pencils in the kit, include some unusual items like empty bottles and stones in the kit as well. Plan some activities that the child can try with their supplies but allow them plenty of space to create their own ideas. Consider creating a special blackboard where the child can scribble to their heart’s content. When your child creates a masterpiece, make sure to display it in a special place in your home for everyone to admire.

Music

Your child will love creating their own music. After all, most children have found a pot and wooden spoon creating their own drum. Take their interest a step further by providing instruments like kazoos and whistles that are easy to master. Introduce them to a variety of musical genres and then encourage them to make up their own songs. Teach them the fundamentals of rhythm and harmonics. Then, encourage them to incorporate these elements into their own songs. Many libraries offer special music classes. Try to take your child often encouraging them to practice what they learned in the class at home while creating their own original music. When your child interacts with other children using their own creativity, it will open up their minds to create ideas of their own.

Some of your child’s original ideas may be true masterpieces, but even if they are not, the child will learn to enter a creative state helping them solve problems later in life when others throw up their hands and quit. Children who learn to be creative when young, never take life to seriously. They have a wonderful ability to laugh at themselves. Creative children are naturally curious. While this trait may drive you nuts some days, they will learn to push through problems until they come up with a creative idea on how to solve the problem.
