8 Off Beat Romantic Travel Destinations In India

India is a country that has a potential to quench the thirst of all the wanderlust-stricken souls. If you are looking for the destination where you can have a great time with your loved one, it can offer you all based on your choices of the climate and stay! We have the desert, the mountains, the sea and possibly every climate of the world, thanks to the varying geography of the country. After being to quite a few places, I have compiled a list of the places where you can have a romantic vacation.
Gangtok, Sikkim
The crown of the Himalayas, the small state of Sikkim is the undisputed holder of this space. Slowly emerging as a popular hill destination, I feel this place has still a lot more to be explored in the terms of offbeat charm! An ideal destination for the couples, it is suggested to avoid Sikkim in monsoon season. Rest you can be there the entire year. River rafting in Teesta, high altitude lakes, snow capped mountains and not to forget the mighty Kanchendzonga.
Andaman and Nicobar Islands
I will be doing injustice if I am not suggesting the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for your great memories with your partner. Home to India’s only living volcano, the islands have one of the best views of the airport as you land! Hosting a few of the top beaches of Asia, Andaman and Nicobar islands are also the top scuba diving hub and boasts of a great marine life.
After all of this was seemingly enough, cheer up as the romantic sunsets, candlelight beach dinners, beautiful rides await you!
Valpari, Tamil Nadu
If you ask me one of the best tea estates you can roam around with your partner, it is the town of Valpari in Tamil Nadu. Lesser known, virgin evergreen tropical forests in the Anaimalai tiger reserve, Valpari serves one more benefit because of its location.
What?
Being around the Anaimalai tiger reserve, you can see different animals and not to forget the Indian Niagara of India, Athirapally falls are quite near as well. Gear up, you are promising a great set of memories with your ‘the’ one.
Kadmat Island, Lakshadweep
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the coral reef island groups of Lakshadweep? One of the pristine islands of the Lakshadweep, Kadmat island is an ideal destination for the couples. During my visit, I realised there is more than just the beach at this 9km long island. Sensational marine life and even better view of the coral reefs, this is comparatively cheaper than the main island of Agatti.
Ultimate privacy section of Lakshadweep, you can simply go scuba diving, catch crabs and even go snorkelling. You can definitely return here to thank after a great time with your loved one.
Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh
Alright, I will admit that I was curious on mentioning this one. The Indian Tibet, Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh is an ideal destination for the love birds. What I loved the most about this place is the snow clad peaks nesting this small plateau-like region in the lap of Eastern Himalayas. Sensational high lakes, waterfalls and loving people mark the Tawang style. Lesser population promoted utmost privacy and the walk around the town will make you fall in love with the northeastern India.
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan
One of the hottest area in terms of the mercury, Jaisalmer can not be simply stricken off this list. If you are looking for the novelty in a royal style and looking for the palaces, sand dunes and colourful bazaars, “Padhharo sa” (Translation: Welcome!)
It is your chance of staying in a desert, camel rides (together, of course), candlelight dinners under the stars in a desert in the complete Rajasthani culture. And if you feel like a romantic and luxury rail holiday then you try the Maharaja Express that take you across Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Ranthambore, Udaipur and Jaipur. A rich Rajasthan experience!
Leh/Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir
If you ask one place where nature created the best of its art, it is Leh and Ladakh. If you are a couple looking for the typical Himalayan luxury vacation or honeymoon, take my vote and book your tickets to Leh and Ladakh right now. Your live encounter with the Buddhist culture, you must be wondering how come it is an ‘offbeat’ destination since it is so popular!
Let me complete and then I will leave it for you to decide the same! Move there post summer and you will get to witness fruits of apple, pear, peach, walnut and the best part is, you can even stay in an orchid during your vacation. Lesser tourists during this time also add to your extra possessiveness about the place.
Moving onto the Ladakh, you will probably greet me back if you take a trip and return. River rafting in the Himalayas, Moutain biking, Motorcycling, trekking and what not? How can you even miss to be here in the company of your love partner?
Binsar, Uttarakhand
If any place in the Kumaon region attracted me the most, it is the region of Binsar and Munsyari. The best sunrise view in the peaks of the Himalayas and a pristine ecosystem, it is the paradise for any trekker. The interaction with the locals established that on any clear day with lesser clouds haunting, one can have a clear view of the holy shrines of Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath from this small village of Uttarakhand.
Take ‘her’ there or force ‘him’ to join you there and I promise, you would never regret!
