Please welcome our Blogger of the week, Tamsin from Chasing Esme!!

I started writing about preparing to be a new mum at the beginning of 2015 for a local magazine, called The Pembrokeshire’s Best Magazine. I wrote about everything to do with pregnancy and parenting, and how difficult and stressful it can be, as well as wonderfully rewarding – all at the same time!
I did this for about six months before I decided to start a blog, as I was extremely enjoying documenting everything. A friend of mine is a blogger, and I read it regularly. She inspired me, and with the help of my other half, we set up a blog.
One of the first things we did was think of a name. We had to think of one to get a website domain, so I took to looking at film titles to see if I could put a spin on something. I really wanted to include my daughter’s name, Esme, because my blog would primarily be about her.
It wasn’t long before I found a film that I thought would be perfect to alter and put my own spin on the name: Chasing Amy. This Kevin Smith film was one of the first films that Al and I sat down to watch together when we started dating, and it always reminds me of the days we would both try to squeeze onto the tiniest sofa in the world in his little flat.
So, with that in mind, I changed the name from Amy to Esme. I felt that Chasing Esme had a certain ring to it, and it made me think of chasing Esme around when she started crawling, walking and running. It was perfect.

As I’ve mentioned, my blog is primarily about the day to day life of being a working mum. Esme is almost 20 months old now, and she is constantly learning new things, and creating new obstacles for Al and I to overcome. But, it has grown to be so much more than that. I don’t just talk about life, I talk about politics and equality, health and well-being, arts and culture.
I love writing. I work as a reporter for a local newspaper and radio station, and I blog in my spare time. I suppose I could call that a passion! Aside from this, I’m a prolific horse rider, and would absolutely love to have my own horse one day. I currently ride a horse called Cassie that my sister-in-law is loaning at a local farm, and it’s so much fun!
Nothing beats giving a horse a hug and breathing in their scent at the end of a long day at the office.
In five years, I’d like to have left my job and blog for a living. At the moment, I don’t generate any income from it, but I would absolutely love to be able to blog every day AND get paid for it. Who doesn’t want a job that they absolutely love!?
