How To Prep Your House For Having Your Littles Ones Home
By: Kara Masterson
When summer vacation arrives, it seems like kids have nothing to do and claim to be bored the entire time. Unless you have activities planned out for each day or every week, then there will be times when they have nothing to do as even video games get boring. It’s best to start preparing your home a few weeks before the kids get out of school for the summer so that you can focus on working and spending time as a family.

Cool Treats
Make sure you have plenty of cool treats in the freezer so that kids have something to snack on instead of making meals all day. Ice pops or even frozen yogurt that you all make together are ideas that will keep everyone in the home cool and comfortable. Consider having an ice cream party on the last day of school to celebrate being home for the summer.
Functioning Air
Look over the air conditioning unit to make sure that it works as you don’t want kids to get too hot when they are inside. You want to check the filter in the unit as well as the thermostat. Companies like C B Lucas Heating & Air Conditioning can come to the home to look over the electrical components and the freon levels before using the unit for the first time.
Activities
Even if it’s something as simple as going to the park or going to the library, you need to plan an activity to get the kids out of the home at least once a week. Talk to your kids to see what they want to do as well. They might surprise you and want to visit a museum or go somewhere educational. Try to plan a family vacation to another city to see new things and to get away from home for a few days.
Routine
Even though kids won’t have to set an alarm to get up early in the morning, they still need to have some kind of routine to stick to in the summer. Make a list of chores that need to get done, or prepare meals at the same times each day as you do throughout the school year so that they don’t get too off track.
The summer season brings warm weather, fun in the sun and children being at home all day. If you plan in advance, then the summer season can be an adventure. Keep the home cool, and plan a few fun surprises until school starts again.
