What Is It About
A potions primer right in time for Halloween! A new BabyLit book! This boardbook by Jennifer Adams is fun, safely spooky and a perfect read for October.
Macbeth A Potions Primer is a lyrical joyous little book of a witches cauldron and the recipe for a spell. What makes this book extra special is many of these ingredients in this potion are the common names or nicknames of ingredients people of the Shakespearian era would recognize. Many of these are herbs and plants! It brings us back to a time where these ingredients were talked about and and some even used for healing.
Artist Alison Oliver drops the reader into the each scene with her pictures. Both the illustrations and the lyrical words make us almost smell the cauldron of ingredients. It’s a perfect recipe for a Halloween book and a fun read with family.
This book is great for babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and kindergarteners. Get your older children to even read it to your younger children! A beautiful age appropriate book for the spooky season.
Extra Credit
Have your young ones suggest an ingredient from their own backyard or around their town or city. Have your older ones write a rhyme and everyone can draw a picture to compliment the new page.
