Newborn Needs: Products New Parents Should Know About
As a new parent, you’re going to feel like there are a million things you need to buy for your newborn, and obviously that just isn’t possible (for most of us anyway). However, there are certainly some essentials and some great nice-to-haves you should concentrate on as you near your due date and after your bundle of joy has arrived. These range from toys to diaper disposal, to safety and security items that will be great investments and lower your stress level throughout the first few days, weeks, and months of your baby’s journey in the world.
Those Teeth are Sharp!
A go-to teething toy that your son or daughter sees as a lovable pet will save you a lot of pain and worry when those pearly whites start to come in. If there’s always a little giraffe or goat or pony that your child can chew on, they’re less likely to gnaw on your finger or something that could harm them instead. If you’ve seen them react to a certain type of animal, stuffed or real, in person or on TV, go with that instead of the boring old-school teething ring.
Keeping an Eye on Things
Traditional baby monitors that allowed parents to hear what was going on in their baby’s room have been around for years, but have evolved into full-scale security systems with sound, multiple cameras, and easy observing via included tablet-like monitors. Features included with many systems are adjustable volume and brightness controls, sound-activated LED lights, and cameras designed to be adjustable and swivel allowing for optimal positioning on your baby. ADT’s reliable alarm systems lower insurance costs in some cases so this investment can even pay you back later. Having easy access to exactly what’s going on with your baby will give you the peace of mind all parents want.
As a parent, you’ll never have enough hands. When it comes to getting rid of a dirty diaper you’re going to want it to be as easy as possible. Choose a diaper pail with a foot pedal and just step, drop, and go about your business. You can also choose a model that has a sophisticated garbage bag configuration allowing you to easily remove it when it’s time to get it out of the house.
When it comes to being a new parent, choose items that will make your life easier and more organized and your stress level is sure to stay reasonable. You’ll never have absolutely everything you need, but by making sure the things you use every day are in place you’ll be on the right road for sure.
