What’s It About
Geisel Award Honoree Anne Hunter introduces us to Baby, a leaping, running and jumping squirrel who is always into everything! He loves to explore, eat and say hi to his animal friends. However, all he hears back is, “No no, baby!” When he is told to “Go away”, he takes it to heart and decides to curl up with his Mommy at night. In the morning, he obliges, he stays away.
When Baby does not show up, the animals in the forest find themselves reacting in a way they never thought possible. They miss their tiny friend! All of Baby’s excitement, curiosity and adventure is gone and the animals yearn for Baby’s energy. They come for a visit to see if Baby will come out of his tree home.

Will Baby decide that they want to join their animal friends again? Or will this bouncing little one permanently stay away? The forest animals certainly learned that they have missed their tiny, curious friend.
This book is about appreciation, understanding and love for the people in our lives. Even though someone may do something differently, their presence maybe a present to you. that is a powerful message for both parents and children alike.
