Sorry kids, but your first day of school is just around the corner! Many parents run out to start picking up the necessary school supplies for their children. From Bristol boards to pencil crayons, you want your child to be able to be creative, to be organized and ultimately to be prepared for the new school year. In the midst of back to school preparation, we sometimes forget about the hundreds of thousands of children who do not have the money to have the proper back to school supplies.

Office Depot Foundation in the United States has had a successful program called The National Backpack Program. Going into its 13th year, the Office Depot has pledged to donate 300,000 backpacks and school supplies to deserving children not only in the USA and Puerto Rico, but internationally. By the end of 2013, Office Depot and The Office Depot Foundation would have donated 3 million backpacks!

Office Depot’s backpack contains:  a zippered pouch containing a pen, pencil, pencil sharpener, eraser, 6” ruler and four crayons. They do not have any Office Depot Foundation or Office Depot logos or markings.  The bags are cute, fashionable and most of all, provide the essentials for youngsters.

This September, as your little ones run to school with all of their supplies, it will be warming to know that 300,000 extra children will be just as prepared across the United States and abroad. Everyone has the right to learn, explore and imagine.
