Relief for a sore head..

lucy

I am by no means a blogger. I haven’t read any blogs properly and I haven’t even finished reading a book in the last 4 years. In all honesty I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing when it comes to blogging so if you are reading this, please bare with me on my blogging journey.

I am a stay at home mum of 2 children under 2.5 and since having my second child I have found myself writing in my head so much that it actually feels like my head may explode if I don’t let it out.

With 2 young children I find I’m constantly amazed at the daily trials and tribulations we seem to be faced with. The only time I get to really indulge in my own thoughts is when I am out walking with the pram and on the rare occasion that both children are asleep and silent . This is an extremely small window that happens some days and it is at this time I find myself reflecting on the events of the day so far and the lessons I have learnt.

Sometimes it has just been the mammoth task of getting 2 kids under 2.5 years old up, dressed and out….sounds so straightforward when you put it like that. I swear if someone had told me just how hard it actually is to achieve those most basic of tasks I may have reconsidered my current career choice.

Today’s lessons were..

No matter how quickly I leg it to wash my hands mid nappy change, my baby will always manage to sneak in a wee (not on the change mat) in my absence and I will return to her eating the wipes and licking the lid of the sudocream.

When you have a toddler and they are in full tantrum mode, whatever is showing on the kids channel will absolutely NOT be the programme they want to watch. They will want the one thing you have absolutely NOT got saved on the planner.

Today we nearly got run over. The perpetrator was driving halfway through the red light as I was halfway across the road, double pram in tow. Normally this type of incident would make me angry. Her mistake was incredibly dangerous after all. But when I saw her tired and distant glazed look and the child in the back of her people carrier, there was a wave of understanding that instantly came over me. Sleep deprivation, toddler tantrums whatever was the reason for her exhausted look….I got it!
