We love Three Makes A Family and we know you will too. This new Mom has a blog (since February of this year). It is honest, relatable and filled
What inspired you to start your blog?
I knew that when it was time to start a family I wanted nothing more than to be a stay-at-home mom. I had always worked full-time and actually loved my job and the company I worked for, but I knew that I would hate to drop my baby at day care everyday while someone else got to care for him and watch him grow. So, I decided that I wanted to stay home with my son, but I knew that I would go crazy if I had nothing to do to keep me busy (as if caring for a newborn wouldn’t keep me beyond busy on its own!). I really never imagined myself writing a blog, but the more thought I gave to what I wanted to do to fill the void from my job, the more I realized that a blog was actually perfect. It would allow me a creative outlet to write, a place to share my experiences as a new mom, and also give me a way to connect with others (so that I had grown-ups to connect with during the day that could use full sentences).
What is your blog about?
They say write about what you know, and right now my whole world revolves around my baby! My blog is about telling my tale of becoming a new mom. I am sharing my experiences with pregnancy, infants, parenting, breastfeeding, general mom life, and more. I hope that by sharing my stories I can give other new moms a story to relate to and maybe even pass on some tips/tricks/wisdom that I have picked up (or adopted from others) along the way. I may not know what I am doing all the time, but you can figure it out with me as I go!
What are you passionate about?
Of course, I am passionate about my son and all things baby. Right now he is seven months old and he is my whole world. Never has something consumed me the way that motherhood has, and I love it! A newer passion has also been growing since becoming a mom; one I hope to address in my blog. I hope to make a difference (however small), with helping women love their bodies and foster positive self-esteem. Becoming a mom will literally alter you; mentally, emotionally, and physically. The physical changes can be hard to accept and hard to watch. So much of our happiness as women comes from our looks, mostly because of what has been ingrained in us by society and media. But our bodies are literally miracles and we should be proud of them! We should be building each other up, not tearing each other (and ourselves) down.
Of course I have other passions as well from before I became a mom! I love taking photos; I am nowhere near even an amateur status but do it just because I love it. I love when you are able to capture a moment in time in a beautiful way that it almost becomes a work of art. The pictures that we take are also like windows into the past and allow us to relive precious moments over and over again. I have loved this aspect of photography with my son because I have been photographing his life daily and can already see how much he has changed and grown. I am very artsy, so photography, drawing, crafts, interior decorating are all things that recharge my batteries and get me excited. I love to have a project to be working on. I also have smaller passions, such as satisfying my sweet tooth. I love food- anything with chocolate, bread is maybe my favorite food, and I always have ice cream in the freezer.
Where do you see your blog in five years?
My blog is still very new, so in five years I hope that it is well-established, and has been able to reach many people and gain many followers! My absolute dream would be that this blog can also become a job for me and help me provide for my family, while still allowing me to stay home with my son. This is not to say I will never go back to work, but for right now, it would be a dream come true to be able to contribute to my family (even if it is just a little bit) by writing and sharing my experiences as a mom. In five years, I hope that the blog will continue to grow and become a great resource for other moms. I am grateful for the readers I have already, and if you are reading this now, I hope that you will still be graciously reading my words in years to come!
