We were delighted to read The Diwali Gift, a fun and educational book about three curious little monkeys celebrating Diwali.
Authors Shweta Chopra and Shuchi Mehta did a delightful job of making sure our lovely three main characters, Suno, Dekho and Jaano had developed personalities, each one relatable to children.
Children will be delighted over the curious nature of the three monkeys and learn so much about Diwali. The three monkeys curiously open a package sent from Dadima (grandmother) the day before Diwali. Both parents and children alike will be able to enjoy this book. Illustrator Anna Koan does an excellent job using bright color/colours to allow the child’s imagination to immerse even further into the story.
We enjoy that Chopra and Mehta added a glossary at the end of the book for readers who want to learn more about The festival of lights. Diwali is a wonderful holiday celebrated by Indians all over the world and now it is time that the rest of the world know, understand and enjoy this holiday as much as we do.
Your children will learn the customs associated with Diwali and will know the meanings behind these traditions.
