4 Problems All Moms Over 35 Should Know About

Once you are into your thirties, your body may begin to go through all sorts of changes. Your hormones are changing as you get older and these changes may manifest physically in your body. Read on for four problems you may face in your thirties and ways you can deal with those problems.

Weakening Bones

Most people associate bone issues in women with older age, but bone loss actually begins in your thirties. It is time to start thinking about bone health and what you can do to prevent diseases like osteoporosis later in life. Two of the best things you can do for your bones is to make sure you get plenty of calcium and exercise regularly.

Weight Gain

Unfortunately, as you get into your thirties your metabolism slows down. You may find yourself gaining weight, even if you are eating the same foods and maintaining the same activity levels as in your twenties. You may need to reassess what you are eating and how often you are working out. Some of the foods that you were able to eat in your twenties with no consequences may now cause you to gain weight. You will want to make sure your diet is full of fresh fruits and vegetable, lean meats and proteins, fiber and calcium. Additionally, you may need to begin a workout routine or work out more often.

Fertility and Birth Control Issues

If you are looking to start or continue growing your family in your thirties, you may face fertility issues. As you get older, the hormones you need to fall pregnant decrease along with the quality of your eggs. You may need to see a specialist for help getting pregnant. Additionally, the birth control that never gave you problems in your twenties may no longer mesh with your changing hormones and you may experience side effects you’ve never had before. You may need to switch birth controls to find one that works better for you.

Vaginal Dryness

If your estrogen levels begin to lower in your thirties, you may experience vaginal dryness. If you are experiencing vaginal dryness and it is affecting aspects of your life, such as your sexual relationship with your partner, you may want to speak with your doctor. There are medications and supplements you can take to help with the issue.

Although you may be facing some new issues in your thirties, it is still an exciting and rewarding time in your life. Many women are beginning their families and getting settled into their careers. A few lifestyle changes (such as a healthy diet!) can make sure you that you are healthy for years to come.
